With your support, this year’s Residency week sold out two school performances for 3,600 children, two public performances, and Gala 2011, which raised more than $400,000 to help KCFAA reach 30,000 students year-round.

Diverse “Signature Suppers”
Simultaneously across Kansas City, more than 1,600 guests delighted in intimate suppers in private homes and other creative venues. Food donated by some of the city’s finest restaurants and caterers, and arrangements created by the best floral designers.

Guests came together at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and watched an awe-inspiring performance, full of the passion and creativity that is only Ailey.

Immediately following the performance, guests moved to our much talked about After Party for desserts, cocktails, mingled with long time friends and new, and best of all, got on the dance floor with the best dancers in the world!
Proceeds from Gala 2011 for KCFAA, benefitting 30,000 youth through year-round Arts Education Programming:
- AileyCamp ~ Free six-week summer day camp for 180 students entering grades 7-8
- AileyCamp The Group ~ Free weekly AileyCamp alumni program for approximately 70 students grades 7-12
- Ailey Trio ~ 16 school presentations by three AAADT dancers each January for more than 4,000 students
- Recruitments, Presentations and Ambassadors ~ AileyCamp recruitments for 4,000 students, presentations for 500 and Ambassador visits for 1,000 students each year.
- Setting the Stage ~ Performance and multimedia presentation of African-American dance history each February for 5,000 students
- In-School Workshops and Residencies ~ Throughout the school year for 8,000 students grades K-12
- School Performances ~ Daytime AAADT theater performances for 3,000 students grades K-12
- Second through Sixth Grade Program ~ Free after-school dance classes for 80 students at KCFAA
