Alvin Ailey® American Dance Theater
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater began performing in Kansas City in 196x with the Harriman Fine Arts Series of William Jewell College. By 1983, Mr. Ailey had made many friends in Kansas City and the community was passionate about his vision and his remarkable dance company. It was at that time that Allan Gray, now KCFAA's Chairman Emeritus, and Mr. Ailey began having conversations about a second home for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
