Mission, Vision & Values
MISSION
The mission of Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey (KCFAA) is to present Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Ailey II to all people. KCFAA places a special emphasis on youth development through dance performances, dance education and community programs. As important as its artistic and educational mission, KCFAA plays a social role, using the beauty and humanity of the African-American heritage and other cultures to unite people of all ages and backgrounds.
We accomplish this by:
- promoting the organization’s vision, mission and historical significance to the community;
- ensuring financial stability with diverse funding from earned income, foundation, corporate, governmental sources, individuals and the board of directors;
- developing a board and staff that reflects our diverse community and ensures the organization’s success;
- maintaining and increasing KCFAA’s membership and volunteer base sufficiently to support the organization;
- expanding community, civic, business and foundation relationships;
- having a yearly presence of the Ailey companies;
- developing and presenting innovative year-round youth dance education programs.
VISION
A diverse community united by dance to inspire and change lives
